Since 1985 the subspecialty muscular pathology (Myology) works in our hospital. The responsible for its implementation were Dr. Carlos Cervera (clinical), Dr. Lluis Montserrat (neurophysiologist) Dr. Jose Maria Fernandez (neurophysiologist) and Dr. Carmen Navarro (neuropathologist) whom we consider as pioneers of the current Clinics and Units of neuromuscular diseases. Prof. Augustin Codina-Puiggros (chief of neurology department) suggested this 180 degree turn from the traditional system to this new model, which worked successfully in different neurological institutions like the Salpetriere in Paris, the National Hospital -Queen Square in London and the Columbia University in New York. It was a treat for us to enjoy learning from these five teachers of the clinic, semiotics, neurophysiology and neuropathology. With their teaching, excellent professionals has formed, who now occupy important positions in hospitals throughout the Spanish geography and Hispanic American countries.
